•Accessing the OLAP Processor: We can use relational aggregates and a BW accelerator index for the same InfoCube. A BI query always tries to use performance-optimized sources by checking the sources from which it can draw the requested data. It checks the sources in the following order:
- 1. OLAP cache
- 2. BW Accelerator index
- 3. Relational aggregates from the database
- 4. Info Cubes from the database
If an active BW accelerator index exists, the OLAP processor always accesses this BW accelerator index and not the relational aggregates. Therefore, with regard to modeling, it is recommended that we create either relational aggregates or a BW accelerator index for an Info Cube.
•Implementation consideration –
– Trex server 32 bit architecture
–Trex server 64 bit architecture
•BI Accelerator – Advantages –
•Query processing up to 200 times faster than traditional approaches.
•Reduced administration costs.
•Greater flexibility in the types and depths of queries.
•You can smart compression , traditional compression process not required.
•Data is in the form of compressed BIA index format and aggregation not required.
•You need not create many aggregates and maintain same.
•Scalable architecture that grows with increasing requirements over time.
•Ability to perform flexible, event‐driven, virtual real‐time analysis.
BI Accelerator – Checks -
•RSDDV Transaction – You can check all available BIA index and Aggregates
BI Accelerator - Issues -
•In case you want to check whether BIA server index is giving the data issue or DB level data issue.
RSRT Transaction – Execute + Debug option
We can see BIA server option
•BI query is taking longer time than expected – You can check in transaction RSDDBIAMON
•Any Info cube BIA index gets deleted automatically – You can delete and recreate the Index and if it is still doesn’t work you have to restart the BIA server through RSDDBIAMON transaction as shown below. Basis normally perform this activity every weekend.
•Once restart is complete you can recreate the BIA index as shown in the next slide.
•To delete and recreate the BIA index post BIA server restart.
•Right click on cube and maintain BIA index will take you to screen shown here. You can delete and by continue option and then it will show recreate option.
•BIA Index properties will show you whether BIA index is active or not and time stamp when it is created.
